About

Joel Slott (b.2001) is a Swedish classical pianist based in Oslo- Norway, specialising in collaborative piano and chamber music. He began his formal piano studies in 2017 when he began studying with pianist Taru Kurki at Falun Conservatory of Music. After graduating in 2020 he continued his studies by perusing a bachelors degree with Prof. Bernt Wilhemsson at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg. As of 2025 he’s pursuing a Masters degree in Chamber music and Collaborative piano at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with prof. Matti Hirvonen and prof. Jorunn Marie Bratlie.

During his studies in Gothenburg his fascination and love for chamber music and collaborative piano grew and today it’s the field in which Joel is mostly active. To further deepen and perfect his understanding of collaborative piano he undertook private studies for pianist and repetiteur Joakim Kallhed during his final two years of his Bachelor, as well as pianistic coaching with world renowned collaborative pianists, repetiteurs and conductors such as Kristan Attila, Stefan Lindgren, Boris Schäfer, Juan Zurutuza and Dr. Bogna Czerwinska Szymula.

Joel has always been a prominent advocate for 20th and 21st century music and has taken part in many works world- and European premiers. This includes some pieces that have been composed directly for Joel or one of his chamber music collaborations, composers Albin Meeuweisse, Nicole Rubinova and Imogen Ferdinando are three among others in the recent years. During the chamber duo Dialogue of Mind’s 2024 UK tour (Echoes of the Clarinet), Joel and his duo partner clarinetist Kristina Newton performed the European premiere of leading Australian composer Paul Dean’s composition “Lockdown miniatures no.8”. In 2025 Duo Dialogue of Minds gave that world premieres of two commissions, Nicole Rubinova’s piece “Tid” that was premiered in London- UK and Imogen Ferdinando’s piece “Impressions on Karathatha Kavi” that was premiered in Sunshine Coast, Australia. 

During his musical career Joel has toured and performed as a chamber musician throughout the Nordic countries, United Kingdom, Australia and the Pacific island world.
