Joel Slott (b.2001) is a Swedish classical pianist based in Oslo- Norway, specialising in collaborative piano and chamber music. His formal piano studies began in 2017 when his studies with pianist Taru Kurki at Falun Conservatory of Music comenced. After graduating in 2020 he continued by perusing a Bachelor’s degree with Prof. Bernt Wilhemsson at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg. As of 2025 he’s pursuing a Masters degree in Chamber Music and Collaborative Piano at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with prof. Matti Hirvonen and prof. Jorunn Marie Bratlie.
During his studies in Gothenburg, his fascination and love for chamber music and collaborative piano grew and today it’s the field in which Joel is primarily active. To further deepen and develop his understanding of collaborative piano he undertook private studies for pianist and repetiteur Joakim Kallhed during the two final years of his Bachelor, as well as pianistic coaching from world renowned collaborative pianists, repetiteurs and conductors such as Kristan Attila, Stefan Lindgren, Boris Schäfer, Juan Zurutuza and Dr. Bogna Czerwinska Szymula.
Joel has always been a prominent advocate for 20th and 21st century music and has taken part in the world- and European premiers of a long list of works. This includes some pieces that have been composed directly for Joel or one of his chamber music collaborations, composers Joel O Eriksson, Albin Meeuweisse, Nicole Rubinova and Imogen Ferdinando are a few among others in the recent years.
During his career Joel has toured and performed as a chamber musician throughout the Scandinavian countries, United Kingdom, Australia and the Pacific island world. As part of the 2024 UK tour (Echoes of the Clarinet), that Joel performed together with Clarinetist Kristina Newton, the European premiere of leading Australian composer Paul Dean’s composition “Lockdown miniatures no.8” was given. In 2025 he was part in giving the world premieres of two commissions, Nicole Rubinova’s piece “Tid” that was premiered in London- UK and Imogen Ferdinando’s composition “Impressions on Karathatha Kavi” which was premiered in Sunshine Coast, Australia.
