About

Joel Slott (b.2001) is a Swedish classical pianist specialising in collaborative playing and chamber music. He began his formal piano studies in 2017 when he started studying with pianist Taru Kurki at the Falun Conservatory of Music. After graduating in 2020 he continued his studies by perusing a bachelors degree with Prof. Bernt Wilhemsson at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg.

During his studies in Gothenburg his fascination and love for chamber music and collaborative playing grew even stronger. To further deepen and perfect his understanding of collaborative piano he undertook private studies for pianist and repetiteur Joakim Kallhed during his final two years of his Bachelor, as well as pianistic coaching with world renowned collaborative pianists, repetiteurs and conductors such as Kristan Attila, Stefan Lindgren, Boris Schäfer and Juan Zurutuza and Dr. Bogna Czerwinska Szymula.

As of 2025 he’s pursuing a Masters degree in Chamber music and Collaborative piano at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with prof. Matti Hirvonen.

Joel has always been a prominent advocate for contemporary music and has taken part in many world and European premiers. This includes some pieces that have been written directly for Joel or one of his chamber music collaborations, composers Albin Meeuweisse and Nicole Rubinova are two among others in the recent years. During the chamber duo Dialogue of Mind’s 2024 UK tour (Echoes of the Clarinet), Joel and his duo partner clarinetist Kristina Newton performed the European premiere of leading Australian composer Paul Dean’s composition “Lockdown miniatures no.8”.

During his musical career Joel has toured and performed as a chamber musician throughout the Nordic countries, United Kingdom, Australia and the Pacific.

Alongside Joel’s own studies, teaching has since long been an intuitive and important part of his musicianship. At seventeen years old he took on his first piano student and has since then continued to develop and deepen his teaching style. Today he’s coaching a substantial number of piano students on a regular basis.
